LIVESTOCK
These photographs were taken over a three day period on a horse farm in Iceland. A herd of approximately forty Icelandic stallions was kept in a fenced in enclosure and maintained by rolls of hay which was regularly replenished. On the third day, approximately half of the horses were scheduled to be gelded. Of those horses, some were slated for sales outside the country and the remaining were planned for auction.
That morning the horses staged an uncharacteristic act while the new hay was being brought in: They liberated themselves and before returning to their holding pen, enjoyed a short while of unfettered freedom.
